David Throp regularly visits The Emirates on business and gets to dive at The Musandan. If you are not sure where this is it is the very Northern tip of that sseparate little chunk of The Oman and forms the Southern Shore of the Straights of Hormuz that join The Arabian Gulf with The Arabian Sea and The Indian Ocean. As you would expect it is subject to strong currents which make the diving challenging but also attract large pelagics. Unfortunately David says he did not have his camera to take photos of the Oceanic White Tips that visited. Whale sharks are regularly seen too! Click 'here' to see the photos.
In February the club held a Valentine's Day Disco at a new venue - The Elysee Hotel in Salmiya. The event was a great success in that it raised over 700KD for the club funds. This is sorely needed as we are fitting out a container to house the diving equipment and compressor having had to vacate oour premises at The Englis School. The picture was taken by Lez Gonella. and you can see the rest of her pictures on the gallery.

Rob Harris-Jones
After many successful years as Diving Officer Rob resigned the position at the last AGM. "Not at all fed-up with the job but I will be leaving Kuwait permanently next June and retiring to Spain. It seemed better to hand over now rather than leave it until next June. Hopefully I can then help the new DO while I am still around. I also need more time to organise shifting the whole family to Spain"
Mike Dalton
After a very successful stretch as Membership Secretary Mike took over as training Officer from Peter Lambie and has now added the arrow of Club Chairman to his quiver. So Mike is already well-known to the members. Dave Bamber is taking over as Training Officer.
Peter Lambie
Peter is now The Club's Diving Officer, taking over from Rob at the last AGM in October 2007. He served as Training Officer for a year in the past so knows well how the club operates. He has several new ideas for trying to spread the job of runnig dive operations more widely and to get more people involved. Good luck Peter!

Already he has contributed on the training front and has taken over from Mike Dalton as Training Officer. He dives regularly and assures me he has updated his equipment since the photo was taken!
