Joining The Club
Anybody with a recognised diving qualification (BSAC or otherwise), or who wants to learn to dive, can join the Kuwait Mantas.
Basic "local membership" of the Kuwait Mantas is just 20KD (about £40) and will entitle you to diving at discounted prices. If you have all your own equipment and have put a cylinder in the "pool" this can be as little as 6KD for a dive trip (usually 2 dives) if you buy 5 boat-trip ticets for 30KD. What you actually have to do and pay depends on individual circumstances.
I want to learn to dive
We can organise a BSAC Ocean Diver training course if enough people are interested at the same time, but not "on demand" for individuals as the commercial operations can. Usually we run one or two courses each year. If you are interested you should contact the Training Officer. The cost of the course is 125KD which includes your first year's membership of the BSAC and The Kuwait Mantas.
Joining with a BSAC diving qualification
If you already have a BSAC diving qualification and are currently a member of the BSAC then you would only need to pay the 20KD for local membership of The Kuwait Mantas.
If you have a BSAC diving qualification but your BSAC membership has lapsed you will need to pay 45KD for local membership and BSAC membership.
Joining with a non-BSAC diving qualification
Any diver who has an internationally recognised diving qualification (PADI, NAUI,SDI etc.) can join The Kuwait Mantas Diving Club as a Local Member for 20KD. It is not necessary to "cross over" to BSAC.
However we can only offer further training to BSAC members. A member with alternative qualifications would need to cross-over to BSAC in order to benefit from our "at-cost" training.
Crossing over to BSAC
"Crossing over" to BSAC is very easy. You have to pay the initial BSAC membership fee for which you will get a qualification record book containing a "Statement of Alternative Training" which equates your existing qualification to a BSAC divinggrade. The cost varies slightly depending on your current qualification. You also need to do one lesson which shows you how to use the BSAC diving tables and also attend one or two Nitrox Workshops, depending on diver grade.
Benefits of BSAC membership
The BS-AC is the largest diving club in the world and being a member has a number of benefits. As a BSAC member you will receive a copy of Dive magazine every month and be covered by BS-AC's third party liability insurance. You can also get many discounted offers such as holidays through the BSAC travel club.
